MY MINIMIE CHIN CHIN..

“Aunty”

“Aunty” Jimmy pulled his teacher by her hands as she turned to give him attention. What is it Jimmy, she closed the book she was assessing to concentrate on Jimmy who was on the brink of tears. I am looking for my snacks he said.

Have you checked your lunch box she asked him. Yes….

Ermmm” what is the name?

I cannot remember, I really do like it and its in a red wrap…he said in a sulken voice.

The teacher stood up as she started to assess the students individually who were already having their lunch as it was their lunch time.

Aunty I remember the name, it is “mimim”.

“Mimim”,the teacher looked confused🤨 she has never heard of mimim🤔. She got to his seat and picked up his lunchbag but couldn’t find the “mimim”.

“Who saw Jimmy’s mimim snack”?

No one said anything as the kids all concentrated on their food. Tolu the slim kid on the right was gradually chewing his meat as if it was a mathematics assignment he must get the answers to. Abigail at the end corner of the class by the left was trying to force a spoonful of rice into her mouth … Abigail calm down and chew your food so you don’t get choked, Teacher favour cautioned her…

Standing in the middle of the classroom room she used her eyes to scan and assess the students and their tables in search of the mimim snack but there was no mimim. Could it be that someone came into her classroom and searched her student’s lunch bag she wondered…🤨

“It Is mine!”

“No” it’s not!;

The teacher quickly turned and saw Jimmy struggling with Angela over a snack.

She quickly left where she was standing and went to seperate the kids….

“Aunty; it is mine affirmed Jimmy

“No!” It’s not Angela countered;

My mum buys it in rolls and stores it Angela continued in her tiny melodious voice.

You took it from my lunch bag Jimmy immediately replied not backing down…

“No!” I didn’t Angela continued. Because it is lightweight i carried it in my school bag not my lunch bag and i just brought it out now.It is easy to chew and doesn’t hurt my teeth that is why my mum always buys it for me.

You are lying Jimmy continued. The teacher stood there and was so confused on what to do.

“Aunty; Jimmy turned to look at his teacher — I love this snack because it is crunchy and tasty that is why my mum buys it and mummy says it is affordable so she always buys it for us. It’s mine Angela says with tears in her eyes. She immediately sat down staring at her hands with tear-filled eyes.

Then, who stole Jimmy’s mimim the teacher wondered. She hadn’t even checked the snack she seized from both of them she just held it in her hands and looked from one child to another. There has never been an incident of stealing before and the kids were all in primary 1(one) not more than 7 years old.

Excuse me ma; a student took permission to enter the classroom.

“Please; come in

My name is Jaden from primary 5b and Jimmy is my younger brother,he said this while pointing at Jimmy.

My mum put both I and Jimmy’s Minimie Chin Chin together.

She asked me to give it to him during the break(lunch time). Here it is; Jaden handed it over to the teacher who dismissed him, Teacher Favour took the snack after assessing it she handed it over to Jimmy — she also handed that of Angela to hers.

What do you say Jimmy the teacher asked him,staring down at him.

He quickly cut out a sachet from the 3 rolls of minime chin chin and handed it over to Angela😔.

I am sorry😓 he said

“Okay;both of you go back to your seats and don’t act like this again Jimmy do I make myself clear.

“Yes Aunty!”

So, the name is Minime chin chin the teacher said with an exasperated sigh as she went back to her seat…

Do you think Jimmy should have been punished more? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section.
